Eoin Dolan evokes 60s nostalgic and vintage indie pop

Evoking a sense of nostalgic optimism with mellow vintage pop, singer-songwriter Eoin Dolan embarked on a new journey to produce his new EP June Hope.

The producer and multi-instrumentalist is inspired by early John Lennon solo material, 1960s French pop and vintage calypso compilations. He takes an approach to music similarly to Dan Croll and has the voice to match.

The title track ‘June Hope’ is a blissful number featuring light and airy guitars, charting a journey from youth to young adulthood through the prism of seasonal change.

The Irish musician, based in seaside town Galway, combines sublime and sometimes heartbreaking melody with lush instrumentation and a classic songwriting finesse to create a vintage psychedelic pop sound. ‘Supermacs’ is cemented in pop nature and has an uplifting mood, whilst ‘Cairo Café’ turns up the heat (in acoustic terms) bringing extra instrumentalization into the mix and a focus on guitar licks.

Speaking about June Hope, Eoin commented: ​“Winters are fairly dark in the west of Ireland – what keeps you going are thoughts of a fresh spring and the warmth of a summer sun… I wanted to make a record that would capture that feeling. If you’re going to believe in anything, keep faith that there’ll always be better days ahead.”

Final track titled ‘Gardening Magazines and Peppermint Tea’ has an eery tone as the notes slither their way through the atmospheric melody. In the background, you can hear birds chirping over what sounds like a sinister beat.
