Ariways release debut EP Starting To Spin

Airways

Peterborough quartet Airways have released their debut EP ‘Starting To Spin’, featuring three new tracks to get listening to. For those of you who don’t know, Airways is a recently formed indie rock group with Jake (vocals/guitar) and Alex (guitar) from Peterborough, Jamie (Bass) from Birmingham, and Brian (drums) who moved from Chicago to join the band. Having formed just over two years ago, these lads have worked their arses off and now with the EP finally here, all the hard work is starting to pay off.

Having formed just over two years ago, these lads have worked their arses off and now with the EP finally here, all the hard work is starting to pay off. The EP starts with their hit single, ‘One Foot’ an upbeat indie rock banger that has your classic indie rock sound with powerful beats will get you going crazy at a live show, I can guarantee it.

Bass led ‘White Noise Boys’ is next up, the bass mixed with the jangly guitar strings makes Jake’s quirky lyrics and unique vocal style brings the whole track together neatly wrapped up with a cute bow on top. It quickly forms into a tremendously addictive chorus that crowds will be singing along to at the top of their voices, alongside infectious riffs and gleaming vocals.

‘Reckless Tongue’ shows just that; a guitar-fueled fire of immense sweatbox energy with a bass bearing chorus that purely provokes a rocky ‘ugh’ from within. ‘It’s the perfect introductory track, as it is as much rip-roaring as it is three-dimensional, and certainly, makes your head spin.

Lead singer, Jake said about Reckless Tongue; “You’ve just walked into a nightclub. The floors are sticky. Shit music is playing. You’re wearing some shirt that you look mental in but your mate persuaded you that you look great. You’ve just seen a girl you fancy. You’re feeling claustrophobic because you’re convinced everyone is looking at you.”

The title track, ‘Starting To Spin’ is more rock led song with some interesting synths, whereas ‘Mate’ is more of an indie pop tune with similarities to early Circa Waves. Although each track may have a different backbone, Jake’s instantly recognisable vocals it brings all the tracks together to make Airways what they are.

At the end of May, Peterborough rockers Airways will support Nothing but Thieves on a full UK tour and release debut EP ‘Starting to Spin’. The EP features 5 tracks that are very different in many ways but lead singer Jake’s quirky lyrics and unique vocal style brings these tracks together.

‘One Foot’ and ‘Reckless Tongue’ have seen continued support from Spotify, BBC Introducing, and Radio 1 already. The band worked with producers Julian Emery (Nothing but Thieves, Lissie, McFly) and Dom Craik (Guitarist of Nothing but Thieves) on the EP this past November.

After releasing their second single, One Foot, the band gained attention throughout the industry and supported Nothing but Thieves, The Hunna, and Sunset Sons on full UK tours. Airways will support Nothing but Thieves on a full UK tour.
