ZELAH return after honing their alt pop sound

London duo ZELAH release their second single ‘Adrenaline’ of the year as they return more refined after honing their sound.

The alt pop band first formed in 2017 and have since spent a lot of time at Strongroom Studios with producer Jake Murray on a number of new tracks.

They emerged from behind closed doors in April with ‘Save Me’ and have now followed it up with ‘Adrenaline’.

The single takes their brand of moody alt-pop to a new level, with an added intensity captured by the pulsing live drums and emotive vocal delivery. The track dives straight into tension built verses supported by an ominously broody soundscape, and as the track grows it builds anticipation which is then forcibly released as the chorus hits you with an energising lift, allowing the vocals to really soar.

Speaking on the track Zelah Van-Gowler said: “I moved to London two years ago now and it really is true when people tell you that it’s a whole different pace of life. Sometimes you feel like you’re going at 1,000 miles an hour and there’s no way of stopping.

“I think you end up either embracing this lifestyle or absolutely hating it, and I know that I’ve felt both at certain points.

“This song was an outlet for me to write about how it can feel, as truthfully, sometimes it can be a lonely and intimidating city, but then you’ll walk by or experience something here that’s just amazing and it reminds you of what an incredible place it actually is.”

With their debut EP planned for the end of the year plus more Autumn shows yet to be announced, including a London Sofar Sounds show after the release, ZELAH are set to build on the successes of this year and to stake a claim as an emerging artist to keep a close eye on.
