Wigan trailblazers The Lathums announce debut album ‘How Beautiful Life Can Be’

Wigan high-risers The Lathums have announced their debut album ‘How Beautiful Life Can Be’ is due for release next month.

The quartet have finally lifted the lid on the news everyone’s been waiting for. The Lathums’ close-knit bubble of offbeat humour, free-flowing jangle-indie and lyrics of unrestrained optimism will be released to the world in the form of 12-tracks on September 24th, 2021.

Having recently set up a stall at Wigan Market (July 31st) the proud natives celebrated their landmark release with an opportunity to pre-order a limited ‘first edition’ pressing of How Beautiful Life Can Be and grab exclusive merchandise, autographs and selfies at the band’s very own, traditional indoor market stall.

Recorded at Liverpool’s Parr Street Studios with James Skelly, The Lathums also shared a new master of fan-favourite ‘The Great Escape’. Having been previously self-released by the young band who emerges from the album sessions in a sparkling, new form, whilst retaining the melodic stardust that caused the first rumblings of the social-media led stampede to their early gigs.

The ICM Ones to Watch 2021 featured artist are fuelled by the simple salvation of six guitar strings and supercharged by the fans that found them slogging their gear into the north of England’s pubs and small venues.

From a late, and surprise slot at Kendal Calling in the summer or 2019, The Lathums name spread like wildfire and a year later achieved their first UK Album Chart Top 20 for vinyl-only EP compilation, The Memories We Make.

For a band whose singing songwriter had never been to a gig before playing his own, yet incomprehensibly carried a truck load of sensitively-crafted, empathetic, sing-a-long anthems straight into their first rehearsal, The Lathums have flown at nosebleed speed to where they are now.

Looking confidently ahead to autumn, the release of How Beautiful Life Can Be coincides with a delayed turn as tour support to Blossoms, shortly before the band sets off on their own, rescheduled and upgraded, 22-date UK Tour. Tickets are available here

The Lathums have confirmed the track listing for How Beautiful Life Can Be as follows:
