Venus Demilo

Venus Demilo return with two new singles in as many weeks this month as the Liverpool quartet gears up for their new EP out next month.

Raised on the typical pop-punk and rock of the 2000s the band take themselves back to their emo roots on ‘Penniless’ which hasn’t been explored on previous tracks.

So, taking that vital leap of faith into the unknown, Venus Demilo have produced a song which gazes in melodic riffs and catchy tones.

Vocalist and guitarist Tom Anderson said on the single: “The reality of being a musician is that most of us don’t have a lot of money. It’s a blessing of a job but, as with most things, there is always a catch.

“In our case, it’s that you have to put everything you make back into the music. It’s the same for athletes, artists and small businesses as much as musicians. We all make the same leap of faith with no guarantee of success. ‘Penniless’ is our way of saying we know it’s hard but keep plugging away; it’s the only way that you’ll have no regrets.”

The second single is ‘Déjà vu’ on the other hand is completely different. I was trying to think what the beat reminds me of, and I think I found my answer; it sounds like rocked and synthed up African Soukous music. The track is melodic and will certainly lift up your spirits.

Anderson comments: “When relationships go sour, people often jump to calling the other person ‘toxic’ which is a pretty severe character assassination.

“Usually, it’s not that the other person is an awful human being but instead, there’s something about two people being together that can bring out the worst in each other. Even though you know you have to move on, there’s something addictive in that friction that keeps you coming back.”

The EP, titled Northern Lights, is set for release on April 10th so keep an eye on our website and social media pages for more announcements.
