Valeras unveil gritty new single ‘Playing With A Gun’
Reading’s hottest new talent Valeras released new single ‘Playing With A Gun’ just before they played a big festival slot at Reading and Leeds Festival.
The female-led quintet has solidified themselves amongst the names being lauded as part of the burgeoning indie scene. The three minute single offers another insight into the emotionally charged and vulnerable lyrical prowess of lead vocalist and bass player, Rose.
Speaking on the single Rose describes: “’Playing With A Gun’ is about the heartbreak of realising that some straight people tend to use queer people as a ‘lifestyle experiment’, often playing with queer peoples feelings…”
Following recent singles ‘Ricochet (Nunca Morira)’ and ‘Your Honey’ the rising Reading outfit, the new single shines with angst-driven guitars which are complemented by Rose’s vocals. Hypnotic and fiery, they deliver a rebellious touch.
The band spoke to us before they teared up the Festival Republic stage last weekend (August 23rd). Find out about how much it meant to be playing their hometown festival and the safety of women and young people at music events.
