Festival Review: Underground Pt. 4 – The Headliners

Underground Festival kicked off over the weekend and we’re are giving an exclusive look into how the great indie bands performed.

Pretty Vicious

On both stages, we have headliners Pretty Vicious on the main stage and fill in’s for Lisbon were indie rock/pop quintet Kassassin Street. Both bands have been having successful

Pretty Vicious have a name which couldn’t do them anymore justice than it already does. Oozing with confidence, the 4 lads that are Pretty Vicious took the Guildhall last weekend to show Gloucester what it’s like to be a rock star in the making. Underground Festival had Pretty Vicious on their line-up as the Saturday main stage headliner and they certainly stole the show.

It was absolutely incredible to see such confidence and passion coming off the stage from Pretty Vicious. Still yet to receive the huge recognition which they deserve – they aren’t slowing down the surging momentum that is pushing them around the country performing in front of all types of crowds. Underground provided a sweaty mosh pit of young music lovers on Saturday, the ideal crowd for Pretty Vicious.

Making the most of it, ICM favourites, ‘Cave Song’ and ‘It’s Always There’ made it to the setlist and blasted out of the speakers and started burrowing themselves into the ears and minds of new potential fans. Especially after seeing Pretty Vicious performing to a drunken mess at Y Not Festival, I would say they are a versatile band that comes as it comes. If you like it, get on the band wagon. If you don’t, then forever be behind.

Kassassin Street

With short notice, Kassassin Street was ready to take the long trip from Southsea to fill in for Lisbon, who were going to be headlining the second stage. We have followed the five-piece for some time now and we have been impressed with singles ‘To Be Young’ and ‘Radio Silence’ have been big hitters with their upbeat guitar driven tunes with a small touch of psychedelia.

Kassassin Street are also to go on an Autumn/Winter UK tour across seven dates including two support slots with indie rock quartet Tibet. Tickets are available to purchase here.
