The Ninth Wave cover The Pogues’ ‘Love You Till The End’

Glaswegian rockers The Ninth Wave have released a cover of The Pogues’ 1996 single ‘Love You Till The End’ to celebrate the festive period.

Produced and recorded by the band in their hometown, the band move away from their traditional dark, post-punk attitudes to lean into their pop sensibilities and embracing euphoric electronic sounds.

The Ninth Wave have opted to cover ‘Love You Till the End, a deep cut from the British/Irish band’s seventh album Pogue Mahone. Frontman Haydn Park-Patterson’s emotive vocals carry the track into a soaring guitar hook, breathing new life into the poignant Pogues album.

The cover’s accompanying visual see Haydn and bassist/vocalist Millie Kidd experiment with religious symbolism on the streets of Glasgow, reimagining classic Christmas visuals in The Ninth Wave’s characteristically offbeat style.

The band said in a statement: “We decided to make this cover the final thing we put out this year because The Pogues aren’t exactly like our band but still capture emotion in the same way.

“We did the whole thing in a couple of days – we recorded it all one night in our studio and then it was mixed by Dan Austin who we’ve worked with since our first releases.”

The band also share a heavenly music video to accompany the release. Check it out below.
