The Manatees release infectious track ‘Headstrong’
Southampton hailing four-piece The Manatees have released ‘Headstrong’, a vibrant and uplifting track which follows the critically acclaimed ‘What If’.
‘Headstrong’ showcases both the natural talent and the versatility of frontman Jay Harris’ vocal range which provides a polished yet unique sound. It is infectious, with its enticing guitar riffs and building energy. It draws influence from the likes of The Strokes, Kings of Leon and The Libertines and it’s easy to see how these anthem-laced bands have influenced the track whilst still establishing its own energetic sound.
‘Headstrong’ is one that you will want to repeat time and time again and where it expertly draws elements of indie and rock together, will undoubtedly remain relentlessly in fashion.
The band said: “‘Headstrong’, is an introspection of our society’s reaction to the world around us, particularly the media we are exposed to on a day-to-day basis that leaves us confused and apathetic.”
The track was mixed by former Spring King frontman, Tarek Musa, with the garage rock influences developed in his
previous band and his skill set in production complimenting the single perfectly.
‘What If’ was released earlier this year and was met by support from the likes of Huw Stephens (BBC Radio 1), Steve Lamacq and Chris Hawkins (BBC 6 Music) and John Kennedy (Radio X). The Manatees have once again set themselves up as a promising act with ‘Headstrong’.
