London’s rising alt rock trio The Howlers take a mature leap sonically as the band release new EP ‘Further Down The Line’.
Regarded as their most accomplished work to date, they stay true to the Howlers trademark ‘Desert Rock’. The EP is a year in the making since ‘The Sum of Our Fears’ was released in the Summer of 2021.
Return with euphoric number ‘Nothing To Lose’ was stylistically inspired by the sounds of Motown, as the track infuses nostalgic soulful tones into a modern and playful rock production. The EP is a melting pot of warm and fiery tones, as vocalist and guitarist Adam Young’s presence gives it a real sense of life.
Speaking about the title track, Adam Young explains, “‘Further Down The Line’ was really a turning point in our songwriting, the song means a lot to us. I brought it into a session with Chris from Black Honey and laid down the demo in a day. It’s about that time in all of our lives when we start to realise that the grass isn’t always green, the coming of age period where you’re forming your identity at the same time as taking on the responsibilities of growing up.”
Visually boasting single and EP artwork by Brian Cannon (Oasis, The Verve), the images captured at a Soul All Nighter in Wigan, 2012, lend themselves perfectly to the sound and themes The Howlers are conveying with this new project.
