The Guru Guru drop video for ‘Origamiwise’ ahead of sophomore LP

Belgian five-piece The Guru Guru drop their quirky and menacing video for ‘Origamiwise’, taken from the band’s sophomore album Point Fingers’ which hits shops at the end of the month.

The band have also lined up seven UK shows next month for the album’s release as The Guru Guru digs even deeper into turmoil than their last; An auditory aberration that spirals into madness.

Vocalist Tom Adriaenssens said about ‘Origamiwise’: “It’s is a song about folding… You can get folded by life but you also have a choice at every turn: to call or to fold on it, as you would in a game of poker. It has a lot to do with my personal experiences in life. Loss, choices, loneliness and feeling excluded.

“The video was shot near to where I live. I walk my dogs in the woods every day. It’s where I think up many new lyrics. It’s a place for me to reflect on things. We thought the bathrobe would give it a more welcoming appearance.”

Praised for their live performances, The Guru Guru are a must-see. With palpable, electric energy oozing from the stage, Tom Adriaenssens balances on the verge of theatrical psychosis.

Combining feverishly angular guitars with off-kilter, poly-rhythms all complimented by erratic and unhinged vocals, the indie-math/psycho-noise rulebook is torn apart, resulting in chaotic songs that somehow seem to develop into wriggling earworms.
