The Great Emu War Casualties offer dynamic indie rock and alt pop

Having embedded themselves in their Australian indie scene, The Great Emu War Casualties offer a brilliant new dynamic of lucid indie, art rock and alt pop.

Ahead of a new EP titled Vanity Project [February 26th], the band have shared their new single ‘I’m A Yes Man’.

From the get-go you are inundated with a blast of instrumentals from electrifying riffs and smashing drums. It’s one of their most engrossing pieces to date as ‘I’m A Yes Man’ gets you hooked.

Produced by Alex Newport (Death Cab For Cutie, Bloc Party, The Mars Volta), the song gets the senses tingling with bright, luscious guitar riffs, minimalistic keys, sharp basslines; and a punchy groove on the kit.

Frontman Joe Jackson vocal presence feels inviting as it clinches the track with an occupying melody.

Off the back of a crippling year for the entire world, this relatable track explores the overwhelming feeling of discomfort and unrest while being required to push on and help others.

Jackson commented: “It’s not about anything particularly tangible and it can (and should) be interpreted in whatever way you relate to it.

“I would say it’s about malaise, it’s about not feeling quite there, being disillusioned and restless.

“It’s basically about navigating adulthood in the 21st century – but pretty much all our songs are about that!”

2020 was a massive year for The Great Emu War Casualties as they released 10 singles including their previous number ‘Flies In My Eyes’ which was the first to be announced for the forthcoming EP Vanity Project.

Keep an eye on this trio as the volcano is bubbling away and ready to explode and any minute.
