The Covasettes are back with fiery rock anthem ‘Modern Rapunzel’

After spending the majority of lockdown writing new songs, The Covasettes return with fiery rock anthem ‘Modern Rapunzel’.

The Manchester quartet have refocused their songwriting approach and ventured for a new sound that’s empowering modern indie rock energy.

‘Modern Rapunzel’ kicks off with a 00s rock inspired intro with firmly strung riffs setting the tone for the whole track. The drumming is rock solid as Chris Buxton’s vocals feel amplified to reach row z in Wembley.

The track is about the feeling of drifting away in a relationship; describes the sinking thoughts of persevering in a relationship and perhaps kidding yourself that things will get better.

Commenting on the track, Chris said: “We’re in a period now where there’s less pressure on us to release music so we wanted to bide our time and keep writing new music until we had a song that blew us all away, and it became clear pretty quickly that ‘Modern Rapunzel’ was exactly the song we were waiting for.

“To put it simply, it sounds huge and that has been amplified by the production style that Jamie (bassist) has adopted.

“It’s really exciting for us to be constantly experimenting with new sounds and I think that is perfectly illustrated in ‘Modern Rapunzel’”.

The Covasettes continue to build on their impressive catalogue of summery indie rock tunes including 2020’s singles ‘Be Mine’ and ‘Spin’

Only one thing is certain in this unpredictable world at the moment, and that’s that The Covasettes are ready for another storming year of indie-rock anthem success.
