Following the release of his single ‘Nightingale’, Manchester-based doctor, and musician Sukh is back with his new EP ‘Falling Asleep with the TV On’.
Recorded entirely in isolation during the COVID-19 crisis, the EP touches on the emotional states induced by the pandemic.
Latest single ‘Airborne’ is an analysis of the fear-induced state of mind that gripped the nation at the beginning of the pandemic. The vocals are deep and bellowing as the dramatic alt rock comes crashing down for the google.
‘Falling Asleep with the TV On’ touches on escapism into digital forms of entertainment and the longing to escape abroad. The track moves away from Sukh’s typical dark pop to bring out light-hearted guitar flicks and electrifying acoustic riffs.
Single ‘Nightingale’ details the emotionally complex journeys of health care workers throughout the crisis and examines their daily sacrifices.
Part dark pop and indie rock Sukh has evolved his signature cinematic sound, of haunting melodies and on-the-pulse lyrics to bring a more personal yet cinematic touch to his music.
Produced by John ‘The Drum Tamer’ Simm,’Falling Asleep with the TV On’ is a neatly tied up package on rock and pop. Sukh has got a knack for producing his own indie anthems which have great potential to grow.
