Returning with their second single of the year, Stay Lunar are back in a familiar, yet refreshing measure on ‘Hello Friend’.
The Bristol five-piece are on our ICM Ones To Watch list for 2021 as their bold indie dream-pop continues to make an impact.
Following up on their last single ‘Immediately’, Stay Lunar open up to an old friend in a shimmer of dreamy riffs alongside a pulsating chorus.
Accepting of his own human flaws, instead of trying to shy away, the band’s lyricist, Harry Leigh, is more welcoming and greeting these flaws as though they are an old friend.
Harry explained: “Hello Friend is a song that dives into the struggles of anxiety and depression, but with a colourful and optimistic spin.
“The lyrics attempt to personify these struggles, by imagining they are an old friend that is looking out for me.
“The idea that anxiety is more of a friend than an enemy, helped me better understand myself, and how we all need others to get by – especially during a pandemic.”
Unwilling to crumble under the pressure of isolation from friends, family and trusted producers Ady Hall & Lee McCarthy, Stay Lunar developed the track on their own at home and delivered what they had to the duo.
In recent months, the band also gained a new fan of music lover and avid indie listener Robert Carlyle who gave them a share on Twitter. Speaking of social media, if you like what you hear, why not follow Stay lunar on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
