Song Of The Week: The Wombats – Lemon to a Knife Fight

The Wombats

The Wombats are just one of them bands that will stand the test of time. They rightly deserve our Song Of The Week spot with their latest single ‘Lemon To A Knife Fight’.

The Liverpool trio have announced their fourth album, ‘Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life’ will be released in February 2018 and a March UK tour (dates below).

Their development from their debut album, ‘A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation’ has been incredible. In classic indie pop Wombats style, the band have constantly progressed from upbeat indie pop to a more synth-driven affair.

Frontman Matthew “Murph” Murphy explains on Triple J, the song’s origins came from a real-life argument. “’Lemon to a Knife Fight’ came around after my wife and I had a huge argument on Mulholland Drive,” he said. “I’d been watching tons of David Lynch too, the song just kind of fell out of me.”
