Song Of The Week: One Of Us – Dan Croll

Just incase you was wondering, we gave The 1975 two weeks as SOTW just because I love that song so such! But this one is just another stunner out of the bag by Dan Croll.

After finally following up on last year’s charming debut album ‘Sweet Disarray’, we got a very juicy taster of things to come. New single ‘One Of Us’ is a perfect slice of vibrant indie-pop filtered through a psychedelic haze.

The track opens with Croll’s gentle low down of what the song is all about; “Heard you can’t beat the rush, give in and be one of us.” The electro-pop song which is similar to those the singer has previously released is soon followed up by a combination of an irregular drumbeat, sci-fi sounding electronics and an overbearing guitar, which adds a confusing backdrop for Croll’s vocals.

The singer’s sweet-sounding vocals certainly still shine through and make for a pleasant listen. The instrumental tones on this track are slightly bizarre but they come together well with Croll’s vocals to create something special.
