Song Of The Week: 485c – Kapow!

485c

Kapow!, London quintet 485c are Song Of The Week with their fourth single if you pardon the pun!

The five nonchalant indie rock shapeshifters Adam Hume (vocals), Dom Watson (guitar/vocals), Lucas Hunt (drums), Rory McGowan (guitar/occasional vocals) and Sam Watkins (bass/occasional vocals) kick off 2018 a short sharp shock of winding guitars, louche vocals and dreamy harmonies, all wrapped up in under three minutes.

The track has a very dramatical chorus – it sounds like something you would find in a cartoon chase – their reminiscence of The Strokes early work shines through on their reverby and electronic sound.

‘Kapow!’ pops out in the wake of previous similarly literate singles ‘She’ll Lie’, ‘Strange Medicine’ and ‘Better The Man’ – all receiving well-deserved radio play. Not to mention they were featured in our Artist Spotlight back in November.

Some of you will recognise that 485c is the Pantone colour (pillar box red) of the colour of the Soviet flag and the tube line (Central Line) which takes you to their hometown of Woodford.

February shows:

3 – London, Nambucca (Generation Next w/BlackWaters & Fick As Fieves)
10 – London, Garage (Supporting The Rifles)
