Covered in a sheen of shimmering guitars and flamboyant vocals, the multinational quartet Solar Strides share new single ‘The Other End’.
The emerging band, based on the outskirts of London, write compelling indie rock anthems with a dynamic vocal duo and solid drum rhythms.
Comprising of founders frontman Jack and guitarist Luie, the lifelong friends teamed up with bassist Hugo and drummer Kieran after posting an advert online.
Quick to get the chemistry going, they released their debut single ‘Electric’ in 2019. Fast forward to 2021 and Solar Strides have a vast catalogue of indie tunes. Their latest effort ‘The Other End’ sees the addition of vocal talent India Foskett. Her voice perfectly compliments Jack’s as the lyrics remind us to reach out to the people you love during this isolating period.
Speaking of their new release, the band explains: “The first thing you hear in the song is the tune I hummed randomly whilst cooking one day.
“From there it was a case of finding lyrics that worked with both the structure of the melody and its apparent feeling of warmth.
“I didn’t want to comment exclusively on the idea of support between lovers, but more generally between parents and children, helplines and those in need, friends, siblings – humans!
“Now more than ever it’s important to recognise our roles in being there for anyone who means anything to us and I hope this song reinforces the fact that there is always someone to reach out to.”
Recorded with Luke Oldfield (Metronomy, Wolf Alice, The Wytches), he brings ‘The Other End’ to life in an infectious style. Solar Strides are not to be halted by a global pandemic and are proving to be a formidable force pushing further into 2021.
