Save Our Venues Campaign reaches ‘RED ALERT’ with 30 venues at risk of permanent closure

The Music Venue Trust has today announced that 30 grassroots music venues are at immediate risk of permanent closure to the Covid crisis.

Over the past eight months, the charity has done substantial work in protecting over 400 venues until march 2021 thanks to the generous support from you, the music fans and artists, communities, and the music industry.

Despite last month’s news that over 1,000 venues, festivals and theatres would receive a share of the £1.57billion funding package by the government. And despite 89% of grassroots music venues who applied for a grant by the Arts Council England – where £41million was distributed – there are now 30 venues which received no help in dire need of saving.

On Facebook the Music Venue Trust said today: “We’ve checked all the available funding, financial support, furlough schemes, business support for these venues, and what is on offer is not enough to prevent them being lost. These 30 venues are on the Critical List and need your help.

“These 30 grassroots music venues play a crucial role in the development of British music, nurturing local talent, providing a platform for artists to build their careers and develop their music and their performance skills. These venues also play a vital role in the cultural and economic vibrancy of our villages, towns and cities.

“Music Venue Trust is not a big corporate organisation with dozens of employees and millions of pounds to back up our campaigns. We don’t have the power on our own to save these venues. We need the power that you, the community that loves and cares about these venues, can bring.”

In light of this announcement and in line with our own campaign at ICM, we are offering a 30% coupon code ‘SAVETHE30’ until 8pm on Saturday, November 14th on Poster and Tote Bag Bundle orders. On top of that, 20% of profits will still be donated to the trust and help protect these vital places for live music – that’s 50%! Click the picture below to be taken to our store.
