Saint Raymond shares emotionally charged single ‘Soft Landing’

Continuing to build up for his anticipated sophomore album, Saint Raymond is knocking it out of the park with new single ‘Soft Landing’.

Compiled into a neat EP with other released singles set to feature on the album ‘We Forget We Were Dreaming’. Set to drop on April 16th, it’s been long overdue, but my god it’s certainly been worth the wait with the amount of quality already produced.

‘Soft Landing’ is another emotionally charged track which the opening lyrics summarise the often tumultuous journey that Saint Raymond’s life has taken, “I know it’s been a while and everything’s changed,” he sings, “I lost my vision but I’m coming-of-age now.”

Written in his hometown of Nottingham with Rob Milton of D.I.D (Dog Is Dead), ‘Soft Landing’ speaks of searching for something more. Musically speaking, the track is illuminated in synths and dramatic electronic beats. Callum Burrow’s vocals are sweetly harmonic and elegantly expressing the pain of struggling for direction.

“We wrote ‘Soft Landing’ at a time when I was feeling a bit lost with everything. I think the story tells that journey of feeling lost, but having something and someone who makes everything feel normal.”

The official video for ‘Soft Landing’ sees Saint Raymond hitting the open road on the back of a pickup truck, which provides an apt metaphor for the song’s sense of yearning for something more.

Directed by UK Music video Awards nominees Bjorn Franklin & Johnny Marchetta, the tight focus on his performance suggests that he’s lost alone in his thoughts. But when he jumps off the truck, those preconceptions are turned on their head with a final reveal.

Saint Raymond has been constantly experimenting over the past five and a half years since his debut album ‘Young Blood’ in 2015. What’s come to fruition is anthemic alt pop that’s bolder and sleeker than anything he’s produced yet.
