The iconic Sheffield venue, The Leadmill, held host to The 48Ks recently with support featuring Sheffield native band Sabella.
Surprisingly, Sabella were the 2nd out of 3 support acts that night, which seemed a tad bizarre given that they have the largest back catalog out of all the bands that were featured.
They kicked off their set with the steady crowd pleaser ‘Fall’, the light rock from the guitar heavy band began what many saw as the highlight set of the night. An uproar of energy kicked off second track ‘Leave’ – the northern accented anthemic lyrics, passionately performed by frontman Jake, had the whole crowd jumping and this vibe proliferated throughout the rest of the extremely satisfying set.
They closed their set on a high with the well-loved hit, ‘Same Species (Different Minds)’ and left the whole crowd running to swipe one of the free CDs they were offering.
For me, Sabella have a strong Sherlocks-esque style, with an occasional dash of High Tyde thrown in.
The band of four are set to release their brand new music video on their YouTube and Facebook at 8 pm today. The music video will be for their upcoming release ‘Hard Enough’, which will be available for purchase and streaming on all major music platforms within the next couple of days; the physical copies will be available shortly after.
All in all, Sabella have an energetic and impressive live set and they always have something exciting coming up so you should definitely keep an eye on them!
