It’s been six years but Royal Teeth are back with sophomore LP Hard Luck

Well get a load of this, Royal Teeth are back with their sophomore album Hard Luck, which was released last week.

Taken from the Indie Pop band’s LP is ‘Get A Load Of This One’ which comes with a funky animated lyric video as well, which features a personal touch from the band – a peacock – because there’s one that lives in their neighbourhood and has become somewhat of a mascot for the group.

On a more serious note, lead vocalist Gary Larsen explains: “‘Get A Load Of This One’ was the last song we added to the album. It was fun to make because it’s so different from our previous music. It’s about acknowledging your pain, your flaws, and showing everyone that you can still shine.”

This time last year, indie pop alternative band Royal Teeth was contemplating a comeback. Internally conflicted but sonically inspired, they built a fresh sounding, amplified catalogue of new tunes that externalized their emotions in a way that anyone who’s experienced a crossroad in their life, whether that be in internally or socially, can relate to.

“This line of work can be difficult,” admits Larsen. “It requires you to be vulnerable and put yourself out there to be judged by others. It’s hard to get used to. We are using this album as a platform to face our fears, and to focus on the love we find through the music we create and those who connect along the way. I hope that this album gives strength to anyone who has a hard time putting themselves out there for the world to see.”

Other singles over the past year that feature on the album include ‘Never Gonna Quit’, which featured Valerie Sassyfrass of Ellen DeGeneres fame in the music video, the amped up track ‘It’s Just The Start’, ‘Show You What I Can Do’ with the incredible Tunde Olaniran, and the vulnerable ballad ‘Rivalry’.
