Single Review: The Sherlocks – Will You Be There?

Sherlocks

It’s the same old story with these four Sheffield lads; pure gold.

With a Courteeners-esque sound and the charm of indie rock legends Arctic Monkeys; the pair of brothers are impossible to sweep under the rug.

Flawlessly polished and nothing short of ingenious; the boys unveil their new single ‘Will you be there?’ on the 28th.

A breakneck opening to the new track; erupting into explosive drumbeats and exceptionally smooth guitar riffs. Challenging their previously acclaimed work is a musically profound outburst of angst and energy. Impassioned vocals and a hair raising instrumental around the 2.20 point, combine with their simpatico feel and definitive Sheffield accents; somehow they’ve managed to outdo themselves.

‘Will you be there’ marks The Sherlocks progression in making headway into the industry. To have a sound associated with their inspirations; The Clash, Arctic Monkeys, The Jam; is, if anything, a huge credit to the band. But to pull apart from that and create something different; to put their own stamp on the indie scene yet still maintain that charismatic aura, is something they have proved themselves very capable of.

It’s their undeniably charming sound and genuine attitude that has captivated a huge following and lead to being one of just two unsigned artists (the other being the Arctic Monkeys) to sell out the Sheffield Leadmill.

The fact these boys can complete a UK headline tour; selling out huge venues including the London Scala and Manchester Ritz, and produce music that is unbelievably polished for an emerging band, makes them something of an enigma.

28/10/16 – be there.
