PREMIERE: Neverman share new psychodrama single ‘Picasso Dream’ ahead of debut EP

Neverman premiere new single Picasso Dream ahead of their debut EP

Portsmouth quartet Neverman is today premiering their new single ‘Picasso Dream’ ahead of the band’s debut EP release ‘It’s Not A Prison, It’s A Prism’.

Fronted by Matt McGowan alongside Craig Arnold, Aaron Payne and Liam Nesbitt, Neverman has spent two years crafting a distinct sound that carries all the energy of their influences, and with their thought-provoking lyrics and unbridled chemistry.

‘Picasso Dream’ is a song about internalising your darkness, having it burrow away inside you until you can no longer contain it. It’s poised with alleycat swagger in the verses and the drums fill through the mix as the squawking guitar lines make for some blistering dynamics.

“Ever had to hide something from someone, having your mind screw with itself, by turns feeling like you have a grip on it, then swinging into the depths of paranoia, then back again like a pendulum? That’s what Picasso Dream is about.”

The title of Neverman’s four-track EP proposes a solution to our mind-made problems. Though their inspiration comes from the music of youth where each track examines internal conflict from the mirrored halls of the suffering mind.

It’s not all gloom, however, as the music will attest. Sharp grooves mix with explosive affirmative choruses to make an EP that is relentless in its vigour. Neverman tap into the wellsprings of darkness for inspiration, their solution to that darkness is simple and poignant. Prisons are dead-ends; prisms offers us the refracted light of new and varied possibilities.

Tomorrow (February 20th) you can catch Neverman in action at The Thomas Trip in Bournemouth for the EP launch party as they quickly rise to become one of the most authentic and invigorating indie groups in the country.
