Willie J Healey creates lo-fi “surf-rock” as he calls it. On a similar vibe to artists like Mac DeMarco & King Krule, many of his songs are made up of light-hearted indie beats accompanied by heavier undertones. After the release of his EP ‘666 Kill’ in October, Healey is currently on tour around the UK, coming close to selling out most of his shows.
Southampton’s Heartbreakers hosted the boys on this leg of the tour. The venue is the perfect size for an intimate show, with the fans able to get up close and personal to their favourite up and coming artists.
Healey and his band drew a young and enthusiastic crowd who weren’t afraid of a little boogie. The passionate fans seemed to know the songs word for word and would chant back the lyrics admirably.
