Delving deep into prog sounds from the 60s and 70s, Nashville outfit The Mango Furs have shared new single ‘Shoes Untied’.
Since bursting onto the Nashville scene in 2019 with single ‘Tangerine’ and EP ‘Inner Migrations,’ The Mango Furs have been delivering their effortlessly cool psychedelic goodness ever since.
The four-piece group are continuing their onslaught of releases with a new single to round off the year. ‘Shoes Untied’ features dreamy guitar melodies, festival-sized vocal hooks and an all-round uplifting feel, this is just what the music world needed.
Quickly mastering their craft, the lads; Chris Higdon (vocals, rhythm guitar, synth), Spencer Moore (Bass, backing vocals), Will Newman (Keys, synth, sax, backing vocals) and Dylan Miller (Drums, percussion), are destroying genre boundaries as they float between indie, psychedelic rock, jazz and pop.
To me, “Shoes Untied” is a lysergic love song and there is something quite beautiful in how the blissful melody and chords are juxtaposed against the longing in the lyrics.
Chris Higdon, frontman
“I’ve always loved the romanticism in songs like George Harrison’s version of ‘If Not For You,'” adds Chris. “And I wanted to touch more on the ‘fall’ of falling in love and the viewpoint from that lens.
“We collaborated with video Director Caleb Herring who did a stellar job of capturing the nostalgia of the song in the video and I think it mirrors the tune quite well.”
