Modern Age Music Song of the Day: Pioneers – ‘What Can I Say?’
Southampton indie four-piece Pioneers have dropped driving new track ‘What Can I Say?’.
The band have built a substantial hometown following, selling out the Engine Rooms and most recently filling the 500-cap 1865.
Their debut single ‘Take Time’ went a long way to growing their online fanbase, with the track amassing over 130,000 streams on Spotify and airplay from Radio 1. The bands latest release is arguably their best since, with ringing guitars, catchy hooks and pumping drums.
‘What Can I Say?’ is driven by the recognisable vocal of frontman Sam Watts, who says: “It’s our most ambitious track to date. We were passionate about being true to ourselves with this release.
“The track highlights that we are not here to conform to music and cultural norms; instead, we are showing who we really are. I believe this tune captures the essence of us as a live band, which is always something we’ve prided ourselves on.”
