Melancholy Ray have shared new single ‘Cassette’, the band’s third release of the year.
Channelling The Strokes are their melancholic best, the new track is a reflective, wonderfully riff-driven indie cut.
The band explained: “‘Cassette’ is a bittersweet love song which takes a reflective look back on the
past summer, whilst embracing the cycles of change that’ll come back in the next year.
“It was written by Callum and Aaron over video calls during the beginning of lockdown when
everything seemed abnormal and thinking of the past was the best form of escapism.
“The song includes backing vocals from up and coming London based artist Phoebe Marshall
who Callum has collaborated with in the past whilst they lived together.
“It’s a song that has dipped its toe into pop music whilst playing remaining loyal to our influences, creating an idealistic marriage of the two. It’ll make you long for the sun and normality.”
Melancholy Ray are scheduled to return to playing live in March, with dates in Leeds and London. Tickets are available at www.modernagemusic.co.uk
