Alt rock trio Meeking are back with all-new energising indie rock single ‘Taking Hits’.
Known for adding a blues-infused twist, the band have also been quite resourceful for their latest effort, using a spade, a metal chair and a fire extinguisher to achieve the overall sound.
‘Taking Hits’ follows up on the previous single ‘All In’ which may sound both very different, but together hold true meaning. ‘Taking Hits’ has a slightly more cheeky feel to it, whereas ‘All In’ has a Twin Atlantic-esque vocal presence.
The song is packed to the brim with killer riffs and huge amounts of energy bursting at the seams. The artwork also bears some similarities to tell a story of perseverance through hard and challenging times. Check out how the cover art was created on Facebook.
Speaking about the track, frontman Jake Meeking said: “‘Taking hits’ follows the theme from our previous single ‘All In’, perseverance. The artwork for both are intertwined too.
“This single has a bit more of a ‘come at me’ vibe… “I’m taking hits to my heart… good to know it’s still there beating, good intentions, keeping me alive”. A kind of, thank you for the hostilities, it reminds me I’m alive!”
Meeking, based in Bath, worked with Josh Gallop of Phoxjaw on producing and mixing duties. Check out the band’s 2020 EP ‘Hello Mind’ here.
