It has been three years since Meeking produced their debut album, but after a new alt rock sound and a fresh line up, they return with a new EP.

The Bath-based trio have been busy working on four-track ‘Hello Mind’ and it has rejuvenated a spark for their blues rock infused indie.

First track ‘Make You Scream’ focuses heavily on the blues riffs and rhythmic drive. It has dynamic groves that weave in and out of the vocals with ease; on top of that, there are complementary tones and awesome solos.

The EP title track is second and ‘Young Man’ have similar guitar tones and slower vocal performance. They burst out with an anthemic chorus as the vocals from Jake Meeking soar over the melody.

‘Live A Life,’ the final track on the EP breaks away from the other three in terms of the intro slowly building up. It’s impressive how they’ve built something to sound so sombre be so uplifting and anthemic.

Whilst reminiscing on some of the 90s greatest rock acts, Meeking produces an uplifting rock concoction beside the likes of The Smashing Pumpkins, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Foo Fighters. After their fresh start, this musical progression is on set to blossom. Give the EP a listen below and leave an ICM Star Rating out of 10.
