MATSCH drives a cinematic sound using post-punk and alt rock
The single ‘Five Miles Away’ is the debut effort from solo artist Matt Schipsi, better known as his stage name MATSCH.
Producing a hybrid universe of post-punk and alt rock, MATSCH drives a cinematic sound attack that could be a Christopher Nolan movie soundtrack in a sci-fi thriller. With influences of Massive Attack, Depeche Mode, Editors, and composer Barry De Vorzon, you can see Matt’s vision as he combines a mix of organic rock and hypnotic electronic soundscapes, layered with minimal electro lines and a straightforward melody, in which the influences are audible and deeply felt.
‘Five Miles Away’ directed by Gareth Kay tells the story of a guy who does not have a world of possibilities in front of him, he has no possibilities, he literally cannot imagine a way to change his life. It’s a metaphor for the need to push through the walls we put around ourselves. Sometimes to love your neighbour as you love yourself is a journey to become also a better person.
Since starting the project in Italy in 2015, Matt moved to London to study and continue his music aspirations. Check out the video below and leave an ICM Star Rating out of 10!
