Maria Lane creates ethereal and heartfelt folk pop

Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, emerging singer-songwriter Maria Lane will stop you in your tracks with her heartfelt indie folk pop.

Captivating audiences since 2021, Maria’s unique style weaves profound lyrics into an emotionally charged fabric, making her a must-watch artist in the modern folk music scene.

Releasing new single ‘what were our vows for?’ last week (September 20) is all about exactly what you might suspect – a couple in an estranged relationship where one has experienced the biggest betrayal. The song has a haunting feel to it with the sound of a chilling wind sending your spine tingling. Written alongside best friend Addison Reynolds it is not a direct portrayal of their own experience but from those around them.

“I wanted to make it to feel haunting because it is very haunting to experience betrayal and the aftermath that comes with it,” says Maria Lane. “I hope this song can help people if they have experienced betrayal in their marriage or in a relationship. Because it is a sh***y thing to experience.”

‘what were our vows for?’ is the final single taken from Maria’s second album Black and Blue which is released on October 4. The album is an ethereal piece of work with a range of emotions porting out of each song. From love and the feeling of longing in ‘til April’ to toxic relationships in ‘merry go round (carousel). Maria Lane has created the ultimate sad folk album and we can’t wait for you to hear it.
