Magic Wands Drop Two New Albums
Los Angeles-based duo, Magic Wands, are making 2018 there own having released their highly anticipated third and fourth albums. Studio album, ‘Abrakadabra’ and ‘Portals’ (A collection of 8 track cassette tape B-sides and demos) are full of incredible music fit for any shoegaze, dream-pop fan.
‘Abrakadabra’ is an exciting LP that captures the duo’s signature expertise at infusing sweet, catchy pop tracks with intricate and sophisticated layers of powerful, transcendental, and mystical moods and textures. With a confident return to their adventurous sonic palette comprised of ethereal and ambient guitars, smooth and fluid synthesizers, and electronic percussive elements, Magic Wands continue to evolve and expand their auditory landscape while retaining their trademark aesthetic of all-things “Magic, Love and Dreams.”
With “Portals,” – which features 17 completely unreleased tracks of b-sides, demos, and outtakes – the band has dug deep into the archive, pulling out new pop gems that fans new and old will love, such as “Warrior Version 2” and “Baby Love.”
One track in particular off the ‘Abrakadabra’ LP which grabbed our attention is “DNA”. This dreamy, atmospheric ensemble is not only groovy beyond belief but most certainly worryingly infectious. The effortless vocals present a simplistic feel that leaves a complex impression on the listener. You will find yourself lost in tranquillity.
Speaking of the track, Magic Wands say, “The idea for the song was about a couple in love running from being observed by aliens. They are fascinated by their chemistry and want to capture them and study their DNA.”
‘DNA’ is the perfect taster for Magic Wands latest art, it shows exactly what the band are about and details all of their incredible efforts and talents.
