Lost Like Lions revitalise 00s alt pop-rock
Lost Like Lions have done a lot in their 18-month existence and that looks set to continue as the American alt rockers release their new EP ‘The Devil That You Know’.
Hailing from Buffalo, New York, the trio – Derrik Schiersing (Vocals/Guitar), Jamie Bigaj (Guitar Matt Kusmierz (Bass) and Jim Kaczmarski (Drums) – have opened up for The Ataris for their 15th anniversary show of “So long, Astoria” in their hometown and have had local radio play from two stations. Their old-school alt rock is to the likes of 90/00s legends Green Day, Jimmy Eat World, New Found Glory and Yellowcard.
First track ‘Something Else’ has that classic alt pop-rock feel as the band show off their raw and nostalgic blend. ‘Run Away’ is reddened with reverb which is met with catchy lyrics and a well-driven drumbeat.
The final track features debut single ‘Enemies,’ a track about reigniting that flame after finding yourself getting stuck in a rut, or routine. When things start to get stale, you start to question everything. But with this fiery onset of fuzzy guitars, rousing vocals and tight harmonies, Lost Like Lions offer an exciting new twist on the old classics.
Frontman Derrik said: “I think I’ve realized as I’ve gotten older the most frustrating part about releasing new music is that I feel like I am bugging my friends and family to check my music out on social media.
“I get more like’s and reactions with pictures of my two-year-old daughter (and rightfully so, she’s wonderful), but when I release a new song, it’s crickets. I’m not saying I don’t expect it, I do. But when we were young you always wanted to “make it”.
“I think as you age, and become a little more settled in life, if there is one thing you wanted more then anything, it’s that you want these songs that you love and put so much time into, to be heard by as many people as possible.”
With its release, the band are keen to get back to Brooklyn to work on the next EP. Listen below and leave your ICM Star Rating out of 10!
