It is unquestionable that Vant are one of the UK’s hottest bands at this moment in time. With huge support from various BBC Radio presenters, a wonderful push from the legendary Steve Lamacq and a turd-load of advertising, these guys are surely destined for fame.
After serving what I could only describe as a Holumi burger train and an abundance of Onion Rings to the four piece, I had the pleasure of watching VANT play at The Horn in St Albans. The crowd and I were warmed up by two rock groups, the first being Echo Infirmary and the second My Little Empire, each (in fairness) holding their own against the titan band from planet earth.
The thing about Vant is their presence. In this industry, you’ve either got it or you don’t. Oh, Christ almighty have they got it! Their electric aura which captivated a whole crowd to turn to into an almost animalistic state was practically possession. They commanded the crowd with a single stare that pierced into your heart and made you want to jump around like a rabid dog. There was no stopping this band. You’d have to nuke the venue (twice) burn it to the ground, piss on it, then nuke it again to even have a chance of stopping the inevitable tidal wave of the purest kind of garage rock. They’re in your face, incredibly liberal and absolutely carefree. We’ve not seen political music like this since the 90’s. It’s refreshing and it will certainly reach out to the youths of today.
