LAWRN explore emotion through synth-driven alt pop
Energetic synthpop trio LAWRN have followed up on their debut EP with new single ‘Like Forever’.
Based in London, the alt pop outfit is pronounced as Lauren. Comprised of singer Andrew, drummer Harm and guitarist Ollie, they create 80s pop ballads on piano and synths with big choruses and catchy hooks.
‘Like Forever’ is the first single off their second EP which talks about a failing relationship. You can hear this breakdown in the heartfelt dialogue of the verses before the chorus explodes with hope that everything will work out.
On the track there’s a real sense of emotion going on a twisty and bumpy ride; the warm synths draw you into the rawness massive chorus takes over. On the surface this track has a real summer feel and the lyrics focus on elements of summer with visions of the beach and blue skies, but they are set in less happy circumstances.
Speaking about the track, Andrew said: “We tried to make this a real step up from the last record and build on the dreamy pop feel.
“Like Forever a big summer pop tune with a catchy chorus and a big sound. There’s a lot of 80’s influence in this song and we wanted to create something that could be the soundtrack to your summer.”
This whole song is longing for the return of summer and we just can’t wait to hear more. If you love LANY, The 1975 and Lauv, then you will adore LAWRN. Check out the track below and leave an ICM Rating out of 10.
