Koalra emerge with soaring alt pop with Lo-Fi melodies
Indie outfit Koalra are an emerging noise pop band from Chicago and have released their latest cut ‘Dear Daylight’.
Since their self-titled debut album in just six months ago, the four-piece released a six-track EP titled ‘Surprise Lights’ in April. Nodding to grotty, distorted walls of sound with rhythmic and dreamy lo-fi, Koarla making a name for themselves under unprecedented times. The EP is a marvellous mix of uplifting, yet shoegaze-esque guitar tracks and drearily sincere, lo-fi vocal melodies – so check it out after reading this.
The new single ‘Dear Daylight’ is a song that reminds you that the sunshine and fresh air is a cure-all for the isolation many are currently feeling.
The band added: “We wrote our entire new EP in one week in quarantine during these crazy Covid times, however, we are not publicly putting that info on display. We know these times are dark for everyone and with this song we wanted to give the feeling of sun-soaked romps and sandy feet in a hopes to brighten someone’s life for at least three minutes.”
Influenced mainly by timeless artists such as Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr. and The Cure, Koalra certainly know how to make a song from the soaring, euphoric breakdowns of stand-out alt anthems to the savagely, fierce energy. Check the video out below and leave an ICM Star Rating.
