Kickin’ Lilies deliver high-octane alt rock debut
Formed as a low-key supergroup from three Sunderland bands, Kickin’ Lilies have now released their high-octane single ‘All These Bad Dreams’.
With members coming from Laurens Court, Fracas and Rhythm, Wood & Shapes, this alt rock five-piece burst out in emphatic style.
Comprised of Ethan Burford (Guitar), Cameron Henderson (Drums), James Boak (Vocals), Morgan Punton (Guitar) and Kyle Stoops (Bass) formed in 2018 but have now dropped their debut release.
Musically the song cumulates a range of influences, guitarist Ethan describes how some of the guitar tones he used were chosen to mimic those of Jack White (from The White Stripes). ‘All These Bad Dreams’ has a stomping beat and electrifying riffs. Once you get into the groove, a lightning fast guitar solo brakes out, setting the track alight.
Speaking specifically about the track, vocalist James Boak explained: “Lyrically it focuses on the way in which negativity can affect how a person thinks or behaves.”
Starting the year with a bang, they are certainly a must-see act for 2020. Have a listen below and leave an ICM Star Rating out of 10.
