Kentucky’s myclownshoes revise their sound with fuzzy riffs and snappy vocals

Kentucky band myclownshowes are back with a revised sound and ready to rock.

The independent band, led by nonbinary singer and songwriter Blue Happel, the band has moved from bedroom R&B and pop to indie rock on the release of their sophomore album Tantrum.

It’s been five years since their debut album ‘Lips Do What Hands Do,’ with myclownshoes returns with some cracking indie rock songs and deeper lyrical exploration.

Latest single ‘Temptation Is a Weapon’ is a stand out favourite with its fuzzy guitar riffs and snappy vocals. Delving into the complexities of a forbidden attraction and religious guilt for wanting someone carnally. For Blue, it is also about coping with a changing sexuality and attraction, intertwined with themes of Catholic guilt and religion inspired by their upbringing.

Blue Happel’s powerful vocals and poetic lyricism shine throughout the album, capturing the essence of yearning and unattainable desire. Guitarist Max Hayes further elevates myclownshoes’ fresh approach as he dynamically switches between gritty and melodic riffs.
