Friday was INHEAVEN’s day; announcing a UK headline tour and a new acoustic EP. Taking tracks from their self-titled debut album, which was released back in September. The EP includes ‘Regeneration’, ‘Drift’ and ‘Treats’ as well as their cover of ‘Vapour Trail’ by Ride, adding a truly INHEAVEN aura.
The EP is somewhat mellow but understandably so as it is, after all, an acoustic version. This is extremely fitting for the current weather which is by all accounts; cold, wet and snowy. Despite its sombre tone, the EP holds the grungy yet clear vocals which are reminiscent of Wolf Alice lead, Ellie Rowsell. Stripped back of the layers of guitar, these new tracks have demonstrated that classic songwriting which is at the heart of everything they do. These ‘back-to-basics’ versions show the undiscovered subtleties and nuances elements to the new tracks.
INHEAVEN will be excited for what 2018 brings. With the hype of their debut album still following them, the renewed excitement of this acoustic EP and more importantly the headline tour which starts in late January. In a period which is normally lacking in new releases due to the festivities and resurgence of Christmas classics, INHEAVEN have continued to fuel the hype surrounding this relatively young band, only releasing their debut single back in 2015. We can’t wait to see what INHEAVEN bring in the new year.
