Dublin-based young band Inhaler has made lockdown slightly easier with the release of their new single ‘Falling In’. This track is a huge step forward for Inhaler’s career, it is a more complex, elaborate, and complete song. It not only makes justice to frontman Eli Hewson’s voice, but it also proves that the band as a whole work very well together.

As Eli told Dork, “‘Falling In’ is a song about the battles that we all have with our own ego”, and it shows perfectly in the rhythmic rendition of it, alongside the almost cutting exasperation in Hewson’s voice. The beginning of the single is not that intriguing, but it hides a glorious growth throughout the rest of the track: after the first minute, the vocals get higher and accompanied by interesting production and guitar synths. I really do believe Inhaler is a separate entity from U2 but, in this song, in particular, their influence is heavily present, which is obviously a very strong quality.

“You need a human touch, it’s never enough”

Inhaler’s leader’s voice is really recognisable, showing off a surprising range and lyricism, even if objectively simple and straightforward. But the highest peak of sophistication is reached towards the end when, after a muffled chorus, a guitar riff starts along with strong vocals singing “You wanna get over, hold my hand”. The production of this track is commendable, especially considering the young age of the band members. It is an astounding single, that keeps the listener entertained and glued to the sounds.

I have to say, we all have to keep our eye on Inhaler… if this is just the tip of the iceberg, we are in for an out-of-the-ordinary growth and releases and, to be fair, we really can’t wait what the future is holding for them. We will hear their name everywhere soon, I am sure.
