Inhaler share eclectic ‘Who’s Your Money On?’

Dublin-based indie-rock young band Inhaler has made another theatrical entrance with the new, electrifying single ‘Who’s Your Money On (Plastic House)’. Starting with a bouncy beat and synths, the track quickly opens up with an enthralling guitar moment, followed by Eli Hewson’s warm and grown-up voice. The tune becomes more interesting by the second, in particular when the singer pre-faces the explosive chorus by singing “We could talk about things we never say when we’re alone“.

In ‘Who’s Your Money On’, the most memorable moment is definitely when Hewson sings, with his raspy vocals, “Who’s gonna keep you alive?“, accompanied by a symphony of guitars and drums that endow the single with an indie-rock personality. We have all been used to the distinctive rhythmic choices of the young, Irish band, but this new track has shown a newfound, braver side of their musical personas.

I owe you more than I have,

You can tell me the cost.

I should have taken your hand…

somewhere I got lost

Lyrics to ‘Who’s Your Money On’

But Inhaler have not only found new sounds, but they also found a new personality as well. In fact, the transition between ‘Who’s Your Money On’ and ‘Plastic House’ is delicate and sophisticated. Clearly, musical talent runs in the family. This section of the song is romantic, melancholic and poetical at the same time. As a band, they have matured lyrically too, as we can observe from Hewson words “Things are just like they always are / we melt like ice in your hands / it won’t last / time will pass“.

The last few moments of Inhaler’s ‘Who’s Your Money On? (Plastic House)’ are introspective and personal, almost to embody an intimate conversation with the listener. A conversation about fragility and regret, one that each one of us eventually has in front of a mirror. We should not take anything for granted, and this song is trying to tell exactly this: you don’t know what you have until it’s gone, and everyone’s “house” – whatever meaning this term has – is “built on sand“.

Inhaler have proven, once again, that they should be on everyone’s watchlist. Their debut album is coming out this summer, and we could not be more excited about it. They will get far, and not because of their connections, but because of their undeniable talent.
