Honey Lung return with new cut ‘Be My Friend’
London alt-rockers Honey Lung make their return with new single ‘Be My Friend’ as their plans for the year begin to take shape.
Despite being disappointed not to be heading to Texas for SWSW Festival, the band have a London headliner and several other festival appearances already lined up over the coming months.
‘Be My Friend’ is primed to kick-start their next phase with a newly-refined sound which draws on inspiration from acts including Car Seat Headrest and The Brian Jonestown Massacre. It showcases come strikingly powerful riffs and some fuzzy vocals with a dash of reverb.
Discussing the ideas behind their new single, frontman Jamie Batten explained: “Lyrically ‘Be My Friend’ makes a joke of trying to impress someone you admire.
“We wanted it to be an ironic song that pokes fun at awkward social situations and the funny ways we act just to be liked or feel accepted.”
Having initially met online via a Gumtree advert posted by enigmatic Batten, calling for ‘like-minded individuals to help create sonic hell’, the shoegazers have spent the last two years mastering the live circuit.
Now they have signed to Big Scary Monsters where we can continue to expect the quartet to rise.
