Blending elements of 90s rock with modern synths and electric drum beats, solo artist Gregsoney (pronounced Gregsonee) pens songs about making it in today’s unforgiving world.
Known to his parents as Greg Powell, the 6ft 5 multi-instrumentalist and producer hailing from Stoke-on-Trent shares new single ‘Unworthy’ which hones in on a 20-something frustrated about how the music industry can make some artists feel.
The bedroom pop-rock musician creates a foundation of fuzzy guitars, wonky synthesisers, air drum-able beats and a barrage of vocal harmonies. New single ‘Unworthy’ is the third release from Gregsoney which has technical elements similar to the likes of early Rat Boy and a hint of Blur and Nirvana.
The single artwork also hints at the irony of the position Greg is in. A modern take on the painting ‘Stanczyk’ Greg said: “I see myself as the Jester contemplating the choices I’ve made musically.”
Having played alongside Dylan Cartlidge, FLEUR ROUGE and local artist Foxa Riot, Gregsoney recently performed at Your City Festival in Stoke. It’s been two years since we saw the release of second single ‘Biggest Fan’ and there’s plenty of new material and even bigger live shows in the pipeline.
