Glass Peaks share Speak and Spell

Glass Peaks

The sophomore single, Speak and Spell from Glass Peaks was released yesterday. This is only the second track released from the Kent based four-piece who were only founded last year, following on from debut single, Your Eyes back in Summer 2016.

Since Your Eyes, Glass Peaks have been gaining huge recognition through BBC Introducing Kent and various other DJs, including Huw Stephens and Abbie McCarthy who describes their sound as ‘making huge, catchy, riffy tunes’. They are quickly becoming Kent’s hottest new indie band.

Their style, self-proclaimed ‘melancholic alt-pop’, with clear influences from Joy Division, Foals and the Maccabees creating their own unique sound.

Louderthanwar claims ‘Glass Peaks could quite easily go on to be one of next year’s break out bands’ so 2017 is likely to be the year where Glass Peaks really show us what they are made of and Speak and Spell is one of the best ways to start their year.

The single holds all the best qualities from Your Eyes. Moody guitar riffs, hard-hitting drums, gripping bass lines and all topped off with Lewis’ haunting vocals but also brings the band’s sound to a new level.

The band have crafted a clever track which at times slows down and reveals the raw nature of Lewis’ eerie vocals. It has a mystique vibe and the opening lines give way to the evocative atmosphere.

The bands relentless use of metaphors allows them to deliver their message about how we are all stuck in one big cycle.

Consequently they have a beautifully crafted a dark yet complex and moving track intertwining between raucous hooks and desolate eloquence in equal measure.

Their single launch and independent venue week show, today at The Rocksteady has sold out. Highlighting the buzz which the band now have following them.
