Glass Peaks share ambient single ‘London Is Concrete’ before debut EP
Alt Rock trio Glass Peaks return with ‘London Is Concrete’; a soft and meaningful love letter to the concept of home.
Following on from their incredible sell-out show at St Pancras Old Church in London, the Kent-based band provide us with a second taste of what to expect on their upcoming debut EP ‘It’s Raining On The Wrong Side Of The Window’, due for release the 1st May 2020.
‘Never Really Left’ was a post-grunge anthem and have now done to the other side of the music spectrum for ‘London Is Concrete’. The track is ambient with Alfie Jefferies haunting vocals processing slowly over a subtle background of drum machine beats and echoing vocals.
On the meaning behind the track, Alfie said: “The lyrics for this are about yearning for that familiar feeling of home when you’re far away. It’s about missing people and places, and how they make you feel.
“London has always been home for me and it’s the place I feel most comfortable, so this tune serves as a bit of a love letter to home.”
Last year saw the trio dive deep into their rehearsal space to write new music, pushing the boundaries further with their sound and what they had to say as a band.
The outcome of that an EP with a combination of various stages of Glass Peaks as guitarist Jake Cox explains: “This EP will be a snapshot of everything ‘Glass Peaks’. It’ll be sad, at points it’ll be heavy, maybe a bit electronic, even political. But I promise it’ll be full of heart and energy.”
Check out the single below and keep an eye out for the debut EP on May 1st.
