Dream pop trio BEX release debut EP ‘Don’t Mess With Bexas’

BEX releases EP Don't Mess With Bexas

North Carolina’s BEX has released her debut EP ‘Don’t Mess With Bexas’ on Saturday (February 15th) with a release show planned at the end of the month.

The Asheville-based trio comprised of frontwoman Rebecca Vines, Colin Barrett (bass) and Adam Freshcorn – (drums) muster up dream pop and indie rock whilst fusing rock sensibilities.

BEX has proved their dynamic abilities on stage over the past two years to now be paired with their versatile six-track release.

Kicking off with ‘Magnolia’, which is a personal favourite, sees BEX start with a strong intro as Vines’ evocative vocals kick into action. The hard-hitting tracks exist somewhere between the land of dreams and reality.

Throughout ‘Don’t Mess With Bexas’, the lyrics alluding to the bittersweet nostalgia of growing up and the delicate experiences that come along with that evolution. Like in the lead single ‘Hope You’re Warm’, which is about the experience of losing a close friend and the grief, as well as the regret.

These songs operate as a timeline of events over the past half-decade of Vines’ life, and BEX hopes for the collection of songs to act as a mode of catharsis for listeners alike.

BEX’s EP release show will take place at The Mothlight in Asheville, NC alongside groups It Looks Sad and Computer Science. Tickets are just $5 and available here.
