The Sugarmill was once again entertained last night by London indie rock band Gengahr. Currently touring their debut album across the UK this autumn with the popular music venue their stop half way through the tour.

Local band RINSE were support for tonight show a great stage presence, boosted in conference by the fact that they are from the area. Their classic indie rock grows on you after each song progresses, simply enjoyable head bopping music.

Gengahr’s music has always been seen as artistic and methodical with their experimental psych-pop hooks you into a swirl of groovy bass and delicious guitar moves with reminiscence of Tame Impala. Their music also matches the bright and colourful artwork the band has created.

Throughout their set they were engulfed in blue lighting apart from playing their unnamed new song. The track carries on their experimental rock, Felix Bushe, John Victor, Hugh Schulte and Danny Ward are separately incredible musicians. Their combined talents is proving to be a tremendous force.

Gengahr’s light airy vocals are almost picturesc, ‘Bathed In Light’ and ‘Fill My Gums With Blood’ got the whole room excited, their unsafe attitude to music is very infectious, explosive choruses make the band a special live band to see in 2017.

Finishing off the short set Gengahr played their hit single ‘She’s A Witch’ WHICH just summarises their unique sound in a nut shell. Progressive synths and unique guitar based melodies. Guitarist Ward, stopped playing the guitar to get out a tiny keyboard out – that looked a bit like an extension cable at first – to play the hip-hop synths. Something you’ve never knew existed!
