French Nancy combine dreamy vocals an retro guitar hooks
London duo French Nancy share new single ‘Midnight Sun’ as they explore the London music scene with their new wave indie pop.
Comprised of Jack Gooding and Joe Friel, the Hackney lads return nice and fresh following on from their debut gig at Folklore in the borough.
Combining dreamy vocals, retro guitar hooks, and a punchy bass line, all set to a driving electronic drumbeat with wistful synths washing in and out, ‘Midnight Sun’ has an urgent yet melancholic energy with indie pop sensibilities.
The song explores feelings of inertia and how people can fall into the trap of looking for answers in places that don’t exist, constantly searching in the land of the midnight sun while everything else falls away.
French Nancy bring everything they love from 80s new wave and bands like The Cure and Motorama, combining it with influences from the likes of The War on Drugs and Tycho to provide something both comfortingly nostalgic but new.
